Word Domains

This is a webpage to find one word '.com' domain names. It is a very specific use case but I couldn't find a super great site to do it. This link is pretty cool and close to what I wanted to do: link. But is not quite what I was going for. The algorithm was really good and I did use some of the code as inspiration.

I grabbed a list of words from here: here (2026-07-14, SHA256 (words.txt) = 39a4ead879cc8283de87f2ec58e7b4b340d6caa724db1b52a91dccf2f273c5e7) and then using a script to scrape the results and put it in the DB that can be searched and updated. Here is the RFC (I think) for domain names.

Algorithm

• Check if word is a valid domain name (conforms to the RFC)
• Check if the domain responds to 'host' (unix command)
• Check the domain use RDAP (GET https://rdap.verisign.com/com/v1/domain/{{domain}} ) and see if it gives a 200 or 404

The algorithm runs over all domains once each month at the first of the month.
